About Me

Hi! My name is Candice Smith. I’m a southern mom of two wild and crazy boys. Over the past couple of years, I grew an interest in how our food is grown and how people used to preserve it. I also realized that I always bought prepackaged food at the grocery store and had no idea how to cook from scratch.

This made me feel very uneasy, especially since the grocery stores went empty during the beginning of the pandemic. It was then I knew that I wanted to become a self sustainable family and not have to depend on the grocery store and supply chains for all of our food.

 

So, I started gardening and bought two chickens for eggs. Everyone thought I was crazy! (Even my husband) But now I have so much comfort in knowing exactly what is in my food, where it came from, and how to preserve it so nothing goes to waste.

This way of living has really made me enjoy and appreciate the simple things of life. Now I try to live as zero waste as I can and bring new life to the things I already have. If I can do it, so can you!
